Iceland elopement at Snaefellsnes peninsula | Budir black church wedding
Some weddings don’t need an audience to feel meaningful. Kristen and Andrew’s elopement in Iceland was just that—quiet, powerful, and perfectly theirs. As Iceland photo and video team, we were there to record every moment—from the first look to the final cliffside view.
They eloped at Snaefellsnes Peninsula, which is one of the most beautiful and quiet places to elope in Iceland.
Getting ready in Budir Hotel
Their wedding day began at the Budir Hotel, which is hidden between mountains and lava fields.
Kristen got ready inside while Andrew enjoyed the fresh air outside their ground floor room. Laughing and checking in on each other, these two kept chatting by the open window. It was a slow and sweet start—one that set the tone for the rest of the day.
We love capturing mornings like this. They are real and calm. Moments like these always shine in photos and especially in their Iceland elopement video.
As soon as they were ready it was time for the first look behind Budir hotel.
It felt like they had the whole area to themselves; the wind was gentle, the light beautiful. In such days being Iceland elopement photographer seem like the best job in the world!
A Private wedding ceremony next to Budir Black Church
They hiked to a quiet spot with a view of the famous black church. This is a fantastic choice if you are thinking about a Budir black church Iceland wedding; close enough for those dramatic shots, but secluded enough for a truly intimate ceremony.
It was just the two of them and their celebrant. No crowds. Not a sound. Just the sound of birds and Atlantic ocean.
Waterfalls, cliffs, and the stone Bridge
After saying their Iceland wedding ceremony, it was time to explore the area. We took them on a small road trip through Snæfellsnes. We stopped for short hikes to hidden waterfalls and the stone bridge.
They stood against the wind at Londrangar cliff hugging each other. This is what an Iceland wedding photo should feel like— honest and full of feelings.
They ended their Iceland elopement day at a hidden spot —a cliffside above a waterfall. It felt unreal, like the world had stopped just for them. Perfect setting for epic Iceland wedding photoshoot.
Why do we love photographing Iceland elopements?
Iceland has it’s own way to make everything feel bigger and quieter at the same time. As a wedding photographer in Iceland, it’s something we never get bored of. You don’t need a big traditional wedding to make your day feel special — here in Iceland you just need the right spot, the feeling of adventure, and someone you love.
Kristen and Andrew’s wedding in Iceland was simple, but filled with emotions.
Their Iceland elopement video captured every smile every hug, every small glance. It’s a reminder that elopements are something incredibly intentional.
